Start Your Year Off Right - SERVPRO of North Highlands & Rio Linda Tips to Stay Organized

Need to keep your Sacramento office fresh? Here are a few tips to help you out.
- Give everything a place. If you need more storage, add more storage. Making sure you have a place to store the things you need is important, making sure it's stored properly means you can find it later. Organization is key in efficiency.
- File paperwork regularly. Walking into a messy office makes work more difficult and daunting. Avoid this by sorting and filing things properly in your newfound storage, so you can find them again.
- Move paperwork off your desk. If there isn’t somewhere to store every little thing, it ends up in the last place it was left; your desk.
- Get rid of what you don’t need. If it is not absolutely necessary, toss it. Does this item have unnecessary multiples? Does it have a purpose? Is it outdated? Did you even remember you had it before you started your cleaning? Do you really need it?
- Address your problem areas. Find out what is the messiest part of your office, and focus on that first. Often one large problem area can spill into other problem areas. Put things in their permanent locations to avoid the cluttering of them in the first place.
- Hide your cables. Cables can often be a source of mess, and a safety hazard. Cable ties, cable organizers, or hidden areas can be a great way to keep them neat and tidy.
- Clean and disinfect. Do it yourself, or hire a professional. We can often forget about something as simple as cleaning the office, but is certainly worth the effort.
- Keep your computers clean, too. Sorting your files away on your computer can make an old computer seem fresh again. Being able to find everything you need in a quick way can help you on task and efficient.
