Halloween Safety Tips

According to the NSC, Children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.
Walk Safely
- Never assume a motorist has seen you. Make eye contact and make sure they know you are there.
- Always stay on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sideways,walk facing traffic as far to the left side as possible.
- Put the devices down. Keep heads up and walk, don't run across the street.
Costumes
- Be visible! Add lights and reflectors to your child's costume, it's a fun and easy way to help keep children safe as they trick or treat.
- Check that your child's costume is flame resistant and does not obstruct their vision.
- Choose masks that are easy to see through and think about lifting your mask up while walking between houses.
Check Candy
- Always check candy before letting your child eat it. Avoid homemade treats made by strangers.
- Watch out for foods your children are allergic to.
- Throw away candy that is unwrapped.
